Arrival

We look forward to welcoming you on Sunday between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with a personalised check-in. If you expect to arrive outside these hours, please contact us at the phone number above so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Departure

Any absence during the stay or early departure must be approved in advance in writing by the parents or guardians. The stay ends on Saturday morning. Please arrange departure between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

On Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., a teacher will be available on site for parents or guardians who are collecting their child and would like a personalised meeting.

Meals

The centre offers cuisine adapted to an international audience and can take into account medical requirements or personal beliefs.

If your child has any food allergies and/or follows a specific diet, please let us know by completing the registration questionnaire, which you can access via the link sent in your registration confirmation email.

Teaching Materials

Upon arrival, your child will receive a Welcome Pack containing teaching materials. If you have booked individual lessons, they may bring any books they need to read for school, as well as any holiday assignments.

Smoking

In accordance with the law, smoking is not permitted inside the buildings. Students under the age of 16 are not allowed to smoke during their programme at CERAN.

Supervision and Excursions

From 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., all educational and recreational activities are supervised by teachers or activity leaders. Some sports or leisure activities are organised only if there is sufficient interest among the students.

During excursions, students aged 14 to 17 may be given some free time without adult supervision, unless parents or guardians state otherwise. Students under the age of 14 are supervised by CERAN staff at all times.

What to Bring

For your stay at CERAN, we recommend bringing:

• comfortable clothing for lessons and indoor activities

• sportswear

• trainers with non-marking soles and walking shoes

• a swimming costume and swimming cap

• toiletries

• bath towels

• a waterproof jacket

Language + Programme

If you have booked a Language + programme — golf, tennis or horse riding — you may bring your own equipment: golf clubs, tennis racket, riding helmet, riding trousers and riding boots. If you do not have your own equipment, please bring sportswear and we will lend you the necessary equipment.

Rooms

Rooms are allocated according to gender, with separate corridors for girls and boys. Students are accommodated in single, double or triple rooms, subject to availability. Shared bathroom facilities are available, with individual showers and toilets.

Valuables

Upon arrival, if you wish, you may leave your pocket money, valuables, flight tickets, passport and insurance documents in the reception safe.

The centre management cannot be held responsible for the loss of money and/or personal belongings in the bedrooms or anywhere else on the premises. We therefore recommend leaving valuables at home and bringing a suitcase with a padlock.

Pocket Money

We recommend bringing approximately EUR 100 per week to cover the deposit for your room key (EUR 20), personal purchases and any possible medical expenses.

Important note: unpaid transfer fees and costs resulting from any damage caused by the student may be deducted from their pocket money. If expenses exceed the amount brought, the provisions set out in the registration form will apply.

Spirit & Commitment

The rules below must be signed by the student and their parent(s) or guardian(s) upon arrival on site.

CERAN JUNIORS courses are intensive and require genuine personal motivation, as they focus on continuous oral practice of the target language. To ensure the quality of our programmes, these rules apply in all CERAN JUNIORS centres:

  • take part in the lessons, activities, excursions and meals included in the programme;
  • respect the full immersion approach, meaning that the target language must be spoken during all educational and recreational activities, breaks and meals;
  • show respect for others — both fellow students and staff members — by behaving appropriately and politely at all times. Bullying, in any form, is not tolerated under any circumstances;
  • comply with the smoking policy in force;
  • not consume alcohol or drugs, either on site or off site;
  • not change rooms without prior authorisation from CERAN staff, and keep their room tidy;
  • not gather in the bedrooms, and respect the rules and quiet time after 10:30 p.m.;
  • be punctual for educational and recreational activities, as well as for meals;
  • not use mobile phones or headphones during educational and recreational activities, breaks and meals, unless required for the activity. We reserve the right to confiscate these personal items if the rules are not respected;

  • not post images or videos on social media without the prior consent of the people concerned;
  • wear appropriate clothing suited to each activity, and not walk barefoot;
  • respect the equipment, order and cleanliness of the different facilities;
  • respect the living areas assigned to each group, such as classrooms, bedrooms, lounges and dining rooms;
  • follow all safety instructions;
  • not leave the centre without written authorisation from their parents or guardians and from the centre management. The centre cannot be held responsible in the event of an accident during these authorised outings.

If these rules are not respected, the student will receive a warning. After a procedure involving three formal warnings, the learner may be excluded from the programme and must leave the premises and return home at the expense of their parents or guardians.

The Centre Management reserves the right to accelerate this procedure in the event of serious misconduct requiring a firmer sanction.

Student Commitment and Motivation Charter

CERAN has created this mutual commitment and motivation charter to ensure that your learning experience is as successful as possible.

1 | Take part fully in all activities and make an effort to connect with others. This will help you integrate into the group, use the target language more often and feel more confident when speaking.

2 | Do not be afraid to speak in the target language during lessons, breaks, meals and activities. Everyone else is in the same situation as you. We are here to help you.

3 | Choose a physical activity at least once a day. This will help oxygenate your brain, allowing you to learn faster and more easily.

4 | Be willing to review things you already know. Knowing or recognising a grammar rule or vocabulary word does not necessarily mean you can use it spontaneously.

5 | Practise, practise, practise: reuse the structures and vocabulary you have learned as often as possible. The more you use them, the better you will remember them.

6 | Be curious: if other people’s cultural habits surprise you, do not hesitate to ask questions. Curiosity is one of the keys to learning.

7 | Do not get discouraged: learning a new language takes time. Ask your teachers for feedback on your progress.

8 | Ask questions: if you have a problem, speak to your teachers or to the coordinator. They are here to help you. If you do not understand something, do not hesitate to ask.

9 | Sleep at least 8 hours per night, eat well and drink plenty of water. You need energy for the day ahead.

10 | Avoid using your mobile phone, tablet or computer too much: you are here to develop your communication skills in the target language.

We look forward to welcoming you to CERAN JUNIORS BELGIUM ST ROCH-FERRIÈRES!
