Immersion for young adults and children

Immersion for young adults and children

CERAN Academy offers language training dedicated to our youngest clientele, students from 7 to 17 years old as well as young adults from 18 to 25 years old. Everyone can find the formula that best suits their profile and needs at CERAN: private tutoring lessons, distance learning courses to prepare for an exam... and finally, for huge and rapid progress, our residential immersions, courses launched at the origin of CERAN in 1975!

For Juniors & Young adults

Does your child need a little help in English, German, French or Dutch? Does he or she want to discover one of these 4 languages and its culture? Then CERAN’s residential language courses during the school vacations (from 9 years old) will meet their expectations. Our language immersion courses for juniors take place in our Belgian sites of Spa & Saint Roch in Ferrières as well as in Switzerland in our Chalet de Champéry located in the Valais. Everything contributes to the success of their immersion course: the setting, the nature, the native teachers and animators of the language taught, the program of activities. At CERAN, your children will really learn while having fun with new friends!

For Young Adults Are you between 18 and 25 years old and want to develop your language skills quickly? Do you need to prepare for an exam in English (Cambridge English LINGUASKILL, IELTS, Toelf,…), German (TestDaf, TELC, DSH…), Dutch (NT2, CNaVT,…) or French as a foreign language (DCL, DELF, DALF, TEF, TCF,…)? Are you participating in an exchange program or beginning higher education in a foreign language? Do you want to prepare your professional future? Our immersion courses meet all these needs and allow you to quickly increase your language skills!

Junior language courses are a great success with both children and their parents. The students experience the concept of immersion in the target language very well, especially during residential courses. Four languages are offered: German, English, French and Dutch. During our intensive residential courses, lasting at least one week, young people learn to develop real communication skills, strengthen their academic knowledge, prepare for higher education or integration in a new country, while living an enriching multicultural experience. Our Junior courses take place in our Belgian sites of Spa & Saint Roch in Ferrières as well as in Switzerland in our Chalet de Champéry located in the Valais.

Transfers from the nearest airports and train stations are arranged in advance. For younger students, a "UM" (Unaccompanied Minor) service is offered for students who join us by plane. This ensures that they arrive safely and that their parents can rest easy. Immersion in the target language begins with the CERAN team. Upon arrival at the site, the Juniors are taken care of by native speakers of the language being taught, who accompany them to their rooms and show them around the site. Transfers are also organized in advance on request for Young Adults. Upon arrival at the site, a map is given to them, the "bousole", by the hosts of the house. During their stay, Juniors & Young Adults will be able to move easily between the training, catering, living and relaxation areas. All the moments to come, courses, meals and also relaxation will be lived together and only the target language will be spoken.

The quality of the accommodation and the overall infrastructure of our training centers contribute to a pleasant and friendly experience. During the summer, the Saint Roch site in Ferrières opens its doors only for Juniors. Saint Roch is a school with a boarding facility that can accommodate many juniors from all walks of life. The rooms are single rooms, for 2 or 3 students. At Spa, the Juniors are housed in double en-suite rooms.

Dining at CERAN adapts to international tastes and to the tastes of the youngest while respecting our 5 principles: simplicity, seasonality, agility, conviviality and commitment. Parents, teenagers, rest assured, the CERAN table knows how to delight everyone's taste buds! For young adults and children alike, the cuisine offered is "simply good". Our chefs cook with seasonal products, in an agile manner to meet the expectations of this young clientele. We also make our young interns aware of the fact that our cuisine is eco-responsible. Moreover, all the moments of restoration are conceived as moments of sharing and exchange between students and professors. These moments at the table contribute to the immersion in the target language.

Learning activities (lessons) and communication activities (breaks, meals, recreational and cultural activities) take place in complete immersion with our native-speaking trainers and facilitators. The Junior programs include a variety of recreational activities and workshops: tennis, basketball, mini-olympics, ping-pong, drawing and painting, short film production, podcast creation, theatrical improvisation, talent show and outdoor activities: escape game, skating rink, tree climbing, etc. In addition, excursions are organized on Wednesdays and weekends between two weeks of training (also for the Young adults summer training). These activities complete and balance the training. It is during these various activities that our young trainees continue to progress outside the classroom. The target language is constantly practiced.

The concept of immersion in the target language is adapted to the needs of the younger students. This language will be the language of communication between the native teachers of the language being taught and the students, as well as between the students themselves throughout the stay. The Junior program will vary from the Young Adults program, however, both programs include classes, educational activities, sports and cultural activities and excursions. Regardless of age, the student is at the center of the learning process, and the focus is on the learner. The learner is considered as a unique person whose needs, personality and learning profile must be respected. And our promise "be satisfied or re-trained for free" is not only reserved for professionals, but also for students!
